Arad plans to expand its household waste storage area near the European road Arad-Oradea. Through this article, we want to show the people of Arad that this can damage the housing area in the immediate vicinity. Analyze For the next study, atmospheric reanalysis data “ERA-5”, made by the European Center for Medium Term Forecast (ECMWF), downloaded from the portal , at a spatial resolution of 0.25 degrees latitude / longitudinal. The analysis period (December 2008 - December 2018) is long enough to highlight the prevailing atmospheric circulation and current enough to include the effects of climate change. The movement of air at two altitude levels was analyzed in detail:

1. 1000 milibar isobaric level (that corresponds roughly to the altitude of 100 meters above ground) that highlights the airmass circulation near the ground and is perturbed by local and mesoscale atmospheric processes;

2. 850 milibar isobaric level (that corresponds roughly to the altitude of 1400 meters above ground) that highlights the airmass circulation in the planetary bounday layer and is perturbed by local and mesoscale atmospheric processes, and also by synoptic scale events;.

The meteorological datasets usually stores the data in GRIB format and the informations about wind are stored on grid-points as western and north components (U and V), because the wind is considered a vector (mathematical). The wind direction from U and V components can be calculated as follows: ATAN2_UV = the arctangent of the ratio between U and V ATAN2_UV_GRADE = conversion of ATAN2_UV from radians in degrees DIRECTION = modulo(180 + ATAN2_UV_GRADE), 360

In this study, we made:

A map representing the multianual wind direction at the 850 milibar isobaric level, for Europe and North Africa; Graphs that shows the evolution in time of the wind direction; Wind rose charts;

Analyzing the map, we can observe that for Europe, the atmospheric circulation is predominantly from west to east, excepting areas where the topography has a stong influence.

For the 1000 milibar isobaric level, we can observe two predominant airmass moving directions (from west and from east), varying acording to synoptic and local atmospheric particularities. For the 850 milibar isobaric level, the main airmass moving direction is from west (272 degrees).

Conclusion:

The household waste storage infrastructure on the east-west axis must be positioned longitudinally, parallel to the airmass movement axis. By correctly positioning the waste storage area from east to west, the disturbing visual effect would be reduced and the level of the noxious substances emitted by it and transported by the wind in the direction of Livada and Sanleani localities would be limited.
